Connected Load Demand Estimator

Estimate diversified real power, apparent power and line current from a connected load and an explicitly supplied demand factor. It does not apply Australian Wiring Rules demand tables.

Inputs

Load and assumptions

Range: 0–100,000 kW

Enter the sum of connected real power before applying diversity. Add separate load groups yourself when different demand factors are needed; do not average unlike loads into one factor without documenting the basis.

Range: 0–100 %

This is supplied by you. No AS/NZS 3000 demand factor or table is applied. Use a documented project, utility or equipment basis.

Range: 1–100,000 V

Enter the voltage used by the selected formula: phase-to-neutral for single-phase loads, or line-to-line voltage for a balanced three-phase load. Common examples include 230/240 V single phase and 400/415 V three phase in Australia, and 120/208/240/480 V in North American work.

Range: 0.01–1

Use the operating power factor for the demand condition. A value of 1 represents a purely resistive load; motor and electronic loads may be lower.

Choose single phase for phase-to-neutral voltage or balanced three phase for line-to-line voltage.

Before relying on the result

  • Estimate demand from a known connected load
  • Compare user-selected diversity assumptions
  • Use the result as an arithmetic estimate and verify demand by the applicable design method.
