Professional-use disclosure

What these calculators can and cannot support. Results do not replace current wiring rules, equipment data, supply authority requirements, or site-specific professional review.

Preliminary results, not approvals

Calculator results are estimates from the stated inputs and assumptions. They are not engineering design, an inspection, a safety approval, or a compliance certification, and they do not verify a specific installation.

Published ratings and standards come first

Verify inputs and outputs against current Australian requirements, supply authority conditions, and manufacturer data for the exact equipment. A calculator result alone does not establish suitability or compliance. Electrical design and installation work should be reviewed and performed by appropriately qualified people.

What each family of tools assumes

  • Cable estimates depend on the conductor, insulation, route, installation conditions, and source data entered. They are not a cable-selection approval.
  • Fault and protection estimates depend on source impedance, device data, disconnection conditions, and fault duration. They do not establish that protection will operate as required.
  • Load estimates depend on the loads and factors entered. They do not apply unprovided diversity, demand, or supply-authority rules.
  • Solar and EV estimates depend on actual equipment ratings, site conditions, and current installation requirements. They do not approve an installation.

Prices, ratings, and material data need verifying

  • Cable data: confirm conductor resistance, current capacity, construction, and installation factors from a current authoritative source.
  • Device data: confirm rated current, fault ratings, trip behaviour, and coordination limits from the exact manufacturer data.
  • Supply data: confirm voltage, impedance, available fault current, and utility conditions for the actual installation.
  • Outside data: where a page quotes a benchmark, a coefficient, or a price, the page names the source and, where it applies, the data year. Those figures provide context only; they are not a substitute for project data.

Commercial relationships

The reviewed site implementation does not include an advertising, affiliate, or sponsored-placement feature. User-entered values are inputs, not endorsements or verified installation data. If a commercial relationship is added, it should be disclosed on the relevant page before it affects how content or results are presented.

How errors are handled

If a page has an unclear definition, a calculation that does not match its stated formula, a stale rate, or a source you cannot trace, the correction takes priority over adding anything new. Send the URL and the specific problem through Contact. Verified errors are corrected, and the pages that depend on a corrected table are re-checked against their test cases before the fix is published.

Your own responsibility

You decide what to build or buy. AU Wiring supplies arithmetic and context; it does not know your equipment, your floor, your duty cycle, your budget, or your tolerance for risk. Treat every result as a question to be verified rather than an answer to be relied on, and on anything safety-related or structural, obtain the judgement of a qualified professional before you commit money or put equipment into service.
